Domestic violence cases decreased

Nationwide, 237,615 cases of violations were registered, 72 percent of which occurred in the capital city and 27.9 percent in local areas in February. This is a decrease of 4.4 percent compared to January. 95.6 percent of all violation cases were investigated and resolved by the Police, 0.07 percent by the Immigration Agency of Mongolia, 0.06 percent by the Mongolian Tax Authority, 0.05 percent by the Mongolian Customs, 0.01 percent by the National Emergency Management Agency, and four percent by other organizations.

During the reported period, 512 legal entities and 225,759 people were held liable under the Law on Infringement. Out of all people, 77.7 percent were men, 22.2 percent were women, and 64.2 percent were aged 26-45 years old. Also, there was 25.9 billion MNT damage caused to people, legal entities, state and public interests due to those violations, of which 1.7 billion MNT was compensated.

In February, there was a decrease in the number of cases for the most common offenses, such as domestic violence and traffic violations. In particular, selling or serving alcoholic beverages without a special license decreased by 60.5 percent, stealing by 29.2 percent, the driver violating the traffic rules and causing damage to the health and property of others by 18 percent, the domestic violence crime by 12.2 percent, people driving who do not have the right to drive a vehicle, or whose right to drive a vehicle has been terminated by nearly 16 percent, and quarrels in public places by 12.3 percent. Driving under the influence of alcohol, people driving a vehicle who do not have the right to drive, or who is not authorized to drive a vehicle, and the violation of evading the due process of checking for drunkenness or intoxication decreased by 9.2 percent, as well.
