Torture prevention efforts presented to parliament

Ts.Tsogtbaatar, the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Justice of the Parliament, has received the report detailing the activities of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) concerning the prevention of torture. According to the law on the NHRC and the regulations of the parliament of Mongolia, it is mandated that the designated member of the NHRC responsible for preventing torture submits an annual report on torture prevention to the standing committee of justice within the initial quarter of each year. Accordingly, Ya.Tselmen, a commissioner responsible, presented the report for the year 2023 to the chairperson of the standing committee on justice and engaged in discussions regarding areas of concern, pressing issues, and the measures being implemented. The report on the prevention of torture will undergo deliberation by the standing committee of justice. If deemed necessary, the committee will develop and present relevant legislative drafts, along with associated opinions and conclusions to the parliament for consideration.
